FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

At Belgiqa, we work with wood every day. This naturally raises questions, about finishes, maintenance, sustainability and choosing the right wood species. On this page, we bring together our knowledge in short, clear answers. Would you like to explore a topic in more depth? We link to our blogs and advice pages where relevant.

FAQ FINISHES

Oil penetrates the surface of the wood and forms a breathable protective layer that preserves its natural look. Hardwax oil offers the same appearance, with increased resistance to wear. Varnish, on the other hand, forms a sealing film on top of the wood, causing it to lose its natural appearance.

Clean regularly with parquet soap. It cleans and protects the floor at the same time. It is difficult to define a fixed maintenance interval, as this depends on how intensively the floor is used. When you notice that the floor absorbs more dirt or appears duller, it is time to soap it again or nourish it with oil. This keeps the protection active and maintains a beautifully matte appearance.

Woodshield is a transparent additional protective layer that is compatible with all our oils. We recommend it for areas with intensive use, such as entrance halls, kitchens or commercial projects. It increases wear resistance without altering the natural look of the wood.

FAQ WOOD SPECIES

Oak is strong, stable and lends itself beautifully to finishing. It responds well to oils and stains, making it suitable for almost any interior, from light and modern to dark and characterful.

Oak is versatile and timeless, walnut radiates warmth and luxury, and afrormosia has a softer, golden-brown glow. The choice depends on the desired atmosphere, natural light and the overall style of the interior.

FAQ Selection and application

Oak is strong, stable and lends itself beautifully to finishing. It responds well to oils and stains, making it suitable for almost any interior, from light and modern to dark and characterful.

Certainly. Using one wood species creates a sense of calm and unity in the interior. At Belgiqa, we align parquet flooring, wall cladding and stairs to create a consistent whole.

Veneer consists of thin layers of real wood bonded to a stable backing. It has the same appearance as solid wood, but is more dimensionally stable and suitable for larger or vertical surfaces. In addition, it is more material-efficient and environmentally friendly.

Yes. With flexible veneer, even organic or curved shapes can be finished. This allows the wood grain to remain visible, even on curved or sculptural surfaces.

FAQ Sustainability

Our production is local, energy-efficient and circular. We heat our workshops with wood waste from our own production and charge our electric fleet using solar energy. In this way, we reduce our ecological footprint from workshop to delivery.

Yes. All our parquet and veneer products comply with CARB2 and E1 standards, meaning they are free from harmful formaldehyde emissions. This allows you to choose wood that is not only beautiful, but also healthy for your interior.

Certainly. On request, we supply wood with FSC® (C129924) and PEFC (PEFC/07-32-356) certification. This guarantees origin, traceability and responsible forest management, verified through independent audits.

Yes. Our materials are designed to support LEED-certified projects, thanks to locally sourced materials, efficient waste management and environmentally conscious processes.
